  • learn traditional hunting methods like ptarmigan snares and ice-fishing with nets
  • harvest natures gifts; hunting, fishing in the mountains, ice-fishing and berry picking
  • tilbereder ulike varianter av rype, rein, fisk og bær
  • prepare different variaties of ptarmigan, reindeer, fish and berries
  • study Arctic wildlife with both small birds and polar bears in your sights
  • encouter the extreme, untouched wilderness of Spitsbergen
Procedures
The teaching is mostly practical and everyone will encounter new challenges. On several trips we will spend time with and benfit from experienced adventurers. You will have responsibility for planning trips and the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of nature and the local environment. You will have the opportunity to gain work experience either with the Sami during their winter herding, as a helper for the Finnmarksløpet (dogsled race) or on a traditional coastal fishing boat. This course is also beneficial for those planning to do further studies in natural science or outdoor activities or for those planning their own Arctic expeditions.
